Tank metering

Tank titration is the technique by which the liquid level in a tank is matched to its physical volume in the tank. This is achieved by constructing volumetric tables that capture this correspondence. The best gauging system or more generally a very accurate measurement of the level in a land tank is of little value if the tank volumetric tables are inaccurate. Volumetric measurements are made in tanks of any shape, above ground or underground. Usually tanks are vertical cylinders, spheres or horizontal cylinders, not excluding other forms of solids.

Volumetric measurements are made either by measuring basic dimensions for regular geometric solids or, more rarely, by gradually filling the tank with liquid and determining the volume at each stage by means of another precise measuring device, e.g. flow meter. The handling of high-priced products requires knowing the handled quantities accurately, especially when it comes to selling or buying goods. However, even in the case of internal transport, it is necessary to know the exact quantity transported.

The equipment needed for measuring tanks of liquid fuel stations is described in detail below:

1. Volumetric container (Litometer) calibrated by the National Institute of Metrology (NIM) for the transferred volume at 15oC.
You can find the verification certificate from EIM at the end of the manual.
The Volumetric tank has built-in pneumatic valves for the entry and exit of the water, monitors for the maximum filling level of the tank, a monitor for emptying the tank and a calibrated PT 100 thermometer. The tank works with the overflow method.
The calibrated container has a built-in control panel and all its functions are controlled by a SIEMENS PLC.

2. Electric pump with a 2.5 HP motor for filling the volumetric container which is mounted on the base of the volumetric container.

3. Brass suction pipe for full tank variable length 2 inch diameter topped with brass check valve

4. Suction hose connecting the brass suction pipe to the pump.

5. Metal tank filling tube which connects the pump outlet to the tank inlet.

6. Empty tank filler hose which connects the outlet of the volumetric container to the empty tank filler hose

7. Brass tube filling the empty tank which is perforated to create as little ripple as possible of the water inside the tank being filled.

8. Rubber overflow hose which connects to the volumetric container and the emptying tank and returns to the latter the overflow of the volumetric container.

All the connection points of the pipes are made with Camlock aluminum fittings to avoid sparks during the process of titrating a tank.

9. Electronic rod Visy Stick Advanced of the German company FAFNIR for measuring the height of the water level in a tank.
The certificates for the specific rod are at the end of the specific manual.

10. Controller Vizy command of the German company Fafnir for the connection of the electronic rod and the computer.

11. Computer with Windows XP operating system on which the ikaros.exe application is installed, which is developed for measuring gas station tanks

12. Air pump

13. Calibrated 20 liter, 10 liter and one liter containers

Mode:

Step 1. Preparation of tanks
Step 2. Installation of the equipment
Step 3. Connect equipment.
Step 4. Start titration.
Step 5. Pass Titration.

Titration application

The program monitors the simultaneous titration process of one (1) or two (2) tanks and records the volume, level and temperature data.
